Somewhere Only We Know | Fine Art Photo Series

December 12, 2014  •  9 Comments

For the last few months I have been working on a photography series titled, "Somewhere Only We Know" for my final in Color Photography at UVU. For this series I chose fairy tale characters and assigned them a color that I felt best represented their story. I wanted to display only one image per character in a pivotal moment that was crucial to their story. I was influenced heavily on Henri Cartier-Bresson's "Decisive Moment," Anne Leibovitz's Disney photographs and a touch of Gregory Crewdson. Mix it all together and you get my series.

[Which one is your favorite?]

All dresses were either already owned by me or found at a local thrift shop and altered to fit the character. Hair and makeup was done mostly by me with a combined team effort from my models. I plan on continuing this series whenever I can get the chance to work on it. I am always in need of models [or HMUA] - if you would like to be a part of one of my productions, there is a link to a model application that you are more than happy to fill out!

Wow!! These really are artistic, wonderful photos. Red Riding hood is my favorite, but they are all superb. Love the way the wind catches her dress and her expression, etc. in Red!

Meg is totally my favorite, the setting makes it. I think you should get Mulan and Pochahontas in on this, such a fun project!
