This one is close to home for me. This is my great Aunt Jan. She is my grandpa’s sister. When I was a kid I loved it when Aunt Jan and Uncle Jack came to town. They would have booths at different markets and I thought it was THE coolest. In fact, I still have a bracelet that aunt Jan gave me from one of their markets when they visited for Portland. They are the nicest people ever and aunt Jan would literally do anything for you. So this time it was my turn. Aunt Jan was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. (Uncle Jack passed away a few years ago.) When I heard the news I wanted to help in anyway I could. Photos are obviously a big part of my life. It was something I could do and give to my family. I got in contact with Julie, one of Jan’s daughters, and we started to plan a day that would work for everyone. We were able to get most of the family in to town for pictures. Such a special day to spend the evening with family and give this service to them. One of my favorite parts was having Aunt Jan sit with each person for a few pictures of just the two of them together and having them look at each other and say, “I love you!” I also loved the portraits I was able to get of just Jan. She is such a beautiful soul and I’m so happy I could give them this gift.
